The Vietnamese female squad suffered a 3-0 setback to the Republic of Korea (RoK) in their second match in the qualifying round at the ongoing Asian U16 Football Champs 2015 in Malaysia.
The Vietnam team, under the lead of coach Luu Ngoc Mai, played aggressively in the first half but never got into the rhythm and struggled throughout both halves of the contest against the RoK team in Group C.
The Korean girls dominated the competition right from the start, with striker Park Hyejeong scoring their first goal in the 29th minute.
Yang Hye Jeong continued the scoring streak with a second goal in the final minutes of the first half.
In the second half, the Vietnamese team applied defensive tactics, but they didn't succeed in protecting their net as the stronger Korean team put the game away with their third unanswered goal in the 66th minute.
In another Group C match Australia routed Hong Kong (China) 10-0, placing them in first place in Group C, followed by the RoK.
Australia and the RoK will face off in the final round of competition, while Vietnam will play Hong Kong (China). The final round of play is set to take place at Hang Tuah Stadium in Melaka City, Malaysia on October 8.
