A high-ranking delegation from Xieng Khouang province, led by provincial chief Somkok Mangnomek, paid a working visit to Vietnam's Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long, on April 27.
The two sides reviewed the results of cooperation in 2011, exchanged development experiences in fields of mutual interest, and signed new cooperation agreements. Since April 2011, the two provinces have signed numerous socio-economic development agreements for the 2011-2015 period.
Vinh Long has provided information on investment opportunities for Lao businesses, created favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Laos, and signed contracts for pre-university classes at HCM City universities to train students from Xieng Khouang.
It is enhancing cooperation with Xieng Khouang in 2012, particularly in tourism development, historical site preservation, and in creating a model for agriculture and farming.
The province is also ready to receive 12 more students chosen by Xieng Khouang to study agricultural sciences and business management this year.
